Dr Gummadi Satyanarayana
M. Sc., Ph.D.
Head, Department of Physics

The department of Engineering Physics is headed by Dr Gummadi Satyanarayana, retired professor of Nuclear Physics, Andhra University. He has more than 30 years of teaching experience and published 60 research papers in various national & international journals. There are eight teaching faculty members and three of them have Ph.D degrees in the fields of Nuclear and Solid state physics.

The faculty is handling Engineering Physics theory and Lab for all branches of I/IV B.E / B.Tech and Materials Science for II / IV ECE students. There are two well-equipped electricity- magnetism and Modern physics - optics labs with facilities for the entire class of 60 students to carry out experiments independently

The research work is being carried out in collaboration with Andhra University in the fields of i) trace element analysis in geological, biological and medical samples using Energy dispersive X - ray technique and ii) structural and electrical properties of ferroelectric materials for pyroelectric and electro-optical applications

One of the faculty members was awarded Ph.D degree, two were awarded M.Phil degree and three faculty members have acquired M.Tech degree in CSE and IT. Two members of the teaching faculty are pursuing Ph.D degree in ‘Atmospheric acoustics’ and ‘Nanophase ceramics ‘. Dr P.Viswarupachary , Senior Assistant Professor , has received the Best Teacher award from our college for the academic year 2005 - 06
